New coloured Riding Pony colt
Feb 2012
We have just purchased the most beautiful, quality coloured colt from Dowhills Stud. To make 14.2hh, he is a yearling bay tobiano with a wonderful pedigree full of classic riding pony & TB blood, by STRINESDALE MASTERMIND out of a mare by HARROWAY MR HARLEQUIN crossed with a TB mare by HENBIT.
He has a wonderful front, with an exquisite head, and lovely movement. We plan to breed, riding ponies, small hacks and sports ponies with him.
Sir Caprimond passes AES grading
Jan 2012
Our very beautiful young stallion SIR CAPRIMOND has been graded with the AES. Now standing almost 17hh, he is a very modern, quality long legged stallion.
By the reserve World Champion SIR DONNERHALL, and out of CLAIRE by CAPRIMOND, he is a half brother of WOODLANDER DORNROSCHEN (by DIMAGGIO) who is the dam of 5 year old World Champion WOODLANDER FAROUCHE (by FURST HEINRICH).
We have a fantastic crop of foals by Capri, and 2012 will be his first year at public stud. We hope he will be of interest to all breeders of dressage horses, and we are particularly keen to see the result of DIMAGGIO and 'F' line mares to him.
Capri is in training with the Thurman-Bakers, and he is coming back to us in April until July. His fee is £500 by AI only, on NFFR terms.

Two of our homebred coloured pony stallions have passed licensing with the Welsh Pony & Cob Society.
The Longhouse Candyman is a beautiful 12.2hh palomino and white native type and The Longhouse Celebrity is a 12hh bright bay and white homozygous riding pony type.
We have a few lovely foals from 2011 by them, and some very special mares in foal for 2012.

Pascal is grandsire of three award winners
Jan 2012
Our wonderful stallion PASCAL was grandsire three award winners at the British Breeders Awards dinner, in three different disciplines.
His daughter PENCADER PEARL, a former Cuddy Finalist at HOYS, was the dam of the Highest marked Show Jumping Yearling
His son, the licenced stallion PIK POLO, was the sire of the top Eventing three year old in 2011
His daughter PRUSSIAN BLUE was the dam of Donnersohn's 6 year old Dressage Champion DONNERGROLLEN
Pascal died in 2009, we stood him for 12 years, and he left wonderful horses, with exceptional movement. His son SPRING PASCAL is one of the most exciting young Grand Prix horses in the UK.
Donnersohn's son DONNERGROLLEN wins BEF award
Jan 2012
Suzy being awarded the British Dressage 6 year old dressage horse of the year award from Jennie Loriston-Clarke at the British Breeders awards dinner, for Jennifer Johnston and Janet Jones fabulous Donnersohn x Pascal black gelding DONNERGROLLEN.
Purchased from us as a foal, he has had a fantastic year, placing third in the novice open Championships at the Winters, he was then Reserve Champion Shearwater 6 year old, and went on to win his first medium test with over 72%.
Jennifer also has his two year old full brother, his 3/4 brother the successful PSG horse DONNERGOTT and his half brother the three year old Donnerubin.
We have an amazing moving yearling colt for sale, out of his dam, by Sir Caprimond, and she is carrying Donnergrollen's full sibling, due in June this year.
Plasderw Nefol - Welsh Sec A
Oct 2011
A few years ago we bought the prettiest Welsh sec A colt foal, he was a cherry red chestnut with a very flaxen mane and tail, we bred a couple of crops from him before we decided to stop breeding sec As. I loaned him to Ginny Hassell at Monksfield stud, and she bred a couple of crops from him before she decided to move him on.
This Autumn, he has had some great successes. A gelding by Nefol, who won the Royal Welsh as a foal, was sold at Fayre Oaks for over £2,000. He then had a four year old qualified for the M&M Lead Rein at the Horse of the Year Show, and he did exceptionaly well for such a young pony, placing 2nd in a tough class.
Nefol is now gelded, but if anyone knows of any of his progeny, please send us news.
News - Also sire of LECHEVAL CHIANTI - 2009 Overall Sec A foal points winner & overall reserve Champion
Udo Van Padhuis - Super Star!
Oct 2011
In 2004 I purchased a scruffy coloured colt in Holland, he was well put together, well marked and quite handsome, but beyond all that he was an amazing athlete with three fantastic paces.
He arrived in UK, and immediately impressed us with his character, the next bonus was finding out that he could jump, he left the ground with such breathtaking ease that he seemed not to be affected by gravity.
In the four years we bred from Udo, he nearly ruined us, he produced hardly any coloureds, and we couldn't persuade dressage riders to look at youngsters by an unknown coloured, so we had his youngsters everywhere. He had a few outside mares, noteably from Verity Jenner, Lucy Sheldrake, Ted Green sent his De Niro and Ramires mares & Yvonne Skinner sent two Fleetwater Olympus mares, so between our mares and these, he never had a bad mare. He was fertile, and had in the four years 20 foals.
From these 20 the results are already phenomenal!, he now has youngsters in top dressage homes, they are winning in hand, under saddle, and have qualified for the Young Horse Championships at the BD Champs.
At home we all adored Udo, he was so kind, sensible and intelligent. If you worked him one day, he came out the next day asking what was next, he just absorbed everything you taught him.
He is now sold to Germany, he has a small homozygous son standing in Scotland next year, we have four magnificent coloured broodmares by him, and everyday we get news of more successes for his progeny.
You can see more on his page under 'Dressage Stallions' on this site.
UPDATE
I have heard from Udo's new owners in Germany, he is doing well, and is in training with the German Show Jumping Team trainer!
Ultimate at Petplan Area Festival
October 2011
What a difference a few weeks makes! This is 4 year old Ultimate with her new owner Kerri Wright at the Petplan Area Festival.
Ultimate is one of the 20 foals that Udo van Padhuis bred while he was with us. They have a fantastic record, and are now being snapped up by International riders. Udo has now been sold to Germany, we have four coloured daughters in the stud by him, two are full sisters to the Thurman Bakers new three year old UNDAUNTED, one is out of a RUBIN ROYAL mare, and the fouth is a full sister to ULTIMATE.
PONY DISPERSAL
Sept 2011
Sadly I have decided to sell nearly all the lovely Longhouse ponies, I have dropped all the prices. Please contact me if you would like a very beautiful, quality little coloured, palomino or cremello. Our ponies have won loads in the show ring, despite the oldest crop of coloureds being 3 year olds.
We have collected far too many, paid a fortune for them, and I must cut down, as I am worried this Winter is going to be more than I can afford.
There are foals, yearlings, two year olds, broodmares and a few young mares left empty, who could make super ridden ponies. Including Sec As, Bs partbreds and riding ponies.
Please contact me if you might be interested in one or two! There are more available than there are on the sale list.

Sept 2011
The lovely Udo van Padhuis son Unsolved has gained a high first premium at the BEF with 8.79, but more remarkable he scored 9.75 from Jane Nixon, which she said was the highest she has ever given. This puts Unsolved in the top 10 dressage 3 year olds for 2011.
He has also been shown again, and won and was champion at Bucks County in the Sports horse class, beating some fantastic horses, this was his fourth championship this year!.
This is our highest BEF mark yet, just beating San Gazelle with 8.77 and Donnergrollen with 8.75 well done Udo and Seven Percent!
Udo is now the 2nd highest rated coloured dressage sire, averaging all scores, for all years in the BEF evaluations, just 0.01% behind the leading coloured sire!

A superb mover, he also has a huge jump. He has a fabulous temperament and would make a super lead rein or first ridden, I could see him as a little worker too.

This is a fantastic achievement for a teenager on a horse she and her Mum have brought up through the levels from a four year old!
We recently visited the team at Turville Valley Stud, and loved the set up and the happy, relaxed atmosphere. We hope to send them one or two of our most exciting youngsters.
More success for Caroline Smith's Longhouse ponies
Aug 2011
At the British Skewbald & Piebald Association Championships, The Longhouse Revelation was Champion Amateur produced, and The Longhouse Los Angeles was 2nd in the Brightwells Sports Pony Finals, an amazing result for a 12.2hh yearling up against 1, 2 & 3 year olds upto 14.2hh!

Ultimate wins her first test
Aug 2011
Update on Kerri Wright and Ultimate, they went to their first show, and to quote kerri -
"It was her first competition a couple of weeks ago, she was brilliant. Took everything in her stride, stood quietly at the lorry, behaved in the warm up. She didn't even look at the judges car or white boards, and won her first test"
June 2011
The beautiful black mare ULTIMATE by Udo van Padhuis out of Seven Percent, that we sold unbroken to Kerri Wright last month, is already backed, walk, trot & cantering under saddle, she has hacked out, and so far hasn't put a foot wrong.
One of my favourite mares, Meta always wanted a cuddle and a fuss, and she is trying so hard to please Kerri, I am a proud Mum!
Udo Van Padhuis' daughter qualifies for the Pre-vac-pro
Aug 2011
Nicky Heale and her wonderful 4 year old mare COMIN' ATCHA have qualified for the Pre-vac-pro Championships at the BD National Championships. Comin' Atcha is one of the first progeny of the coloured KWPN stallion UDO VAN PADHUIS.
We stood Udo for 4 years, he produced fantastic youngsters that all had three very good paces, and wonderful brains. Most of his offspring didn't inhertit the coloured gene, and it was difficult to get people interested in coming to see them, but most are now in very good dressage homes, and I think there will soon be more making a name for themselves.
Udo is now sold to Germany, but we have four fantastic coloured broodmares by him, out of mares by Rubin Royal, Pascal (two) & Sherlock Holmes.
Nicky is a fantastic producer of young horses, she also competed our lovely World Classic son "White Russian" and in a short time won two Novice Championships in Scotland. Comin' Atcha was a top Futurity filly, gaining a double first premium, she was champion of both dressage and jumping on the day, and at the end of the season was in the top 10 marks in the UK for both SJ & dressage!

Woodlander Farouche is 5 year old World Breeding Champion
8 August 2011
We have just returned from Verden where the wonder mare Woodlander Farouche won the 5 year old World Championships! She won the qualifying class on Thursday, then the Championship on Saturday, & was then presented in the Gala evening on Saturday night, so we stood for the British National Anthem 3 times!
The scores were phenomenal, she won with 9.72. Her lowest mark was higher than the highest mark of any other horse, and she broke in her extended trot, so you wonder what the marks would have been without an error! The marks were- trot 9.4, walk 10, canter 9.8, submission 9.6 & general impression 9.8.
This is a wonderful thing for British (and Welsh) breeding, her Grand dam CLAIRE is British bred, as is her dam WOODLANDER DORNROSCHEN, both bred by The Hoerners in North Wales, and Farouche herself was bred by Lynne and Dave Crowden in mid Wales!
We are particularly grateful for the wonderful campaign the Eilbergs, and her owners have given this mare. Every aspect of her preparation was perfect, and Michael rode her with such feel and sensativity, that we were all inundated with questions from the other Nations, as to who this young man was!
CLAIRE produced us two wonderful colts, that we will be standing next year, SIR CAPRIMOD & DUKE OF CAPRI, their pedigrees are now even more glittering, and we thank Farouche and all her conections for that.
1 August 2011
We are big supporters of this wonderful mare, she goes to Germany having just won two more big British Young Horse Championships with record breaking marks. At Hartpury with her superb rider, Michael Eilberg, she won the Shearwater for the second year running, she then won the Badminton Championships with an amazing 98.8%
Farouche is a granddaughter of the wonderful Caprimond mare CLAIRE, who is also the dam of our two young stallions SIR CAPRIMOND (by Sir Donnerhall) & DUKE OF CAPRI (by Donnersohn).

These four boys are by Donnersohn, two are out of the wonderful Trakehner mare 'Gotschna' by Schwalbenfreund and the younger two are out of her daughter Prussian Blue' by Pascal. Claire, our wonderful Caprimond mare who is the dam of our stallion SIR CAPRIMOND, is also the dam of WOODLANDER DORNROSCHEN, whose 1st foal FAROUCHE has just won the Badminton Young Horse Championships with the amazing mark of 9.5. Last Autumn she performance tested with the Hanoverians with similar marks.
Ridden by Michael Eilberg, she is regarded as one of the most exciting young Olympic prospects!
Claire is from the family of Florestan, they share the same grand dam, and Farouche is by Furst Heinrich, who is descended from Florestan, Furst Heinrich was also out of a Donnerhall mother, and Dornroschen is by Dimaggio whose sire is by Donnerhall, so Farouche is line bred to both Donnerhall and Florestan's dam line.
We are breeding Claire to Donnersohn who is by Donnerhall, and we hope to cross her and her progeny with our future stallion prospect FLAWLESS who is by FLORISCOUNT a Florencio/Donnerhall son.

Donnergotsch at the Winters
April 2010
It was great to see Donnergotsch again, we hadn't seen him since he was sold two years ago, he was such a favourite at home, a three year old colt with the character of a Teddy Bear.
Jo kept such a cool head, coming into the indoor arena for the first time, Donnergotsch halted, caught a glimpse of the huge flags above him and took flight. Luckily it was a test to music, so Jo continued in the direction they were heading and made up the trot work, then did her canter work in reverse. The test finished perfectly with the music, and they received the respectable score of over 61%.
Well done to both of them, next time will be a piece of cake!

PASCAL has been put down
Feb 2010
Very sadly, on Saturday morning, we had Pascal peacefully put to sleep, he had layed down the night before and could not get up, despite our efforts, it was decided to let him go. He was the most wonderful stallion, a total gentleman, he loved life, loved his girls, and lived in the mare barn, where he like to chat to everyone as they went past.
He has become much respected for his progeny, he passed on his beautiful type, his character, soundness, tremendous movement, and probably most outstanding, he seemed to allways pass on an incredible quick hind leg.
He will be much missed, and we wish we had kept a Pascal son, but we have a wonderful legacy of broodmares, who are already producing champions. His wonderful son Spring Pascal is flying the flag, and we have high hopes for his future too.

Supreme Champion in hand, she has just won the Hanoverian Performance test with marks that most stallions couldn't touch - all her marks were 9 or above, with an amazing 10 for canter, and Lynne quotes the German judges as saying that they could have given 10 for all her paces.

So far he has won both the NE Championships and the Area festival at Novice level and is now preparing for the Scottish championships, but not with Nicky, as he has just been sold to the most lovely home where he has already got his new lady owner besotted with him.
Donnervogel and White Dove
Aug 06
Last year we sold the beautiful White Dove (by World Classic) in foal to Donnersohn, she went to the loveliest home where she is kept like the princess she is. This spring she had the most stunning grey colt, who has been shown in the North of England and has proved a big winner as both a sports horse and a riding horse.
He was First and reserve champion sport horse at the North Yorkshire County show, with his dam placed second and they both won their classes in the riding horse breeding at The Northern Horse Show. Then followed a journey down south for the British Dressage Breeding Championships, where he was second in his colt class and White Dove was fourth in a very strong broodmare class.
This colt is now for sale, and we were so impressed we have now put White Dove's big sister (17.1hh!) White Classic, in foal to Donnersohn for 2007.
