Cathmoor Donna Dee res ch BEF

July 2010

A lovely yearling filly out of White Classic and by Donnersohn has just gained a good BEF first premium at The College, with a score of 8.46 the second highest on the day. She is owned by Sarah Watson, who bought the dam from us.

She is not only by our lovely Donnersohn, we also bred her dam, who is by our wonderful World Classic and out of Dainsbury Graf, a 7/8 sister of the Hanoverian State Stud stallion Don Edwardo, from the mare family of the Sandro Hit son Sansisco.

Donnersohn now has Donnergrollen with 8.75, Detective with 8.54 and Donna Dee with 8.46, an average of 8.58 for dressage.

White Classic's 2010 foal gained an elite mark of 9.09, giving her a dressage broodmare mark of 8.77 from her 2 progeny, ranking her NO 1 DRESSAGE BROODMARE IN UK!!!

Woodlander Farouche is Badminton Champion

July 2010

Claire, our wonderful Caprimond mare who is the dam of our stallion SIR CAPRIMOND, is also the dam of WOODLANDER DORNROSCHEN, whose 1st foal FAROUCHE has just won the Badminton Young Horse Championships with the amazing mark of 9.5. Last Autumn she performance tested with the Hanoverians with similar marks.

Ridden by Michael Eilberg, she is regarded as one of the most exciting young Olympic prospects!

Claire is from the family of Florestan, they share the same grand dam, and Farouche is by Furst Heinrich, who is descended from Florestan, Furst Heinrich was also out of a Donnerhall mother, and Dornroschen is by Dimaggio whose sire is by Donnerhall, so Farouche is line bred to both Donnerhall and Florestan's dam line.

We are breeding Claire to Donnersohn who is by Donnerhall, and we hope to cross her and her progeny with our future stallion prospect FLAWLESS who is by FLORISCOUNT a Florencio/Donnerhall son.

Stallions going to prepare for licensing at Woodlander Stud

April 2010

We had a flying visit from Lynne Crowden and her German rider Carsten, to see SIR CAPRIMOND with a vue to preparing him for grading this Autumn. Lynne has his sister WOODLANDER DORNROESCHEN and her daughter WOODLANDER FAROUCHE.

Whilst they were here they saw a few of the other youngsters, and fell for the fabulous Donnersohn x TB colt DAUPHIN, so they have decided to license him themselves.

So this Autumn, all being well Lynne and Carsten will be preparing Sir Caprimond and Dauphin for grading.

In the meantime, we will be preparing our fab coloured colts WHITE MAGICIAN & USTINOV for BWBS & Sports Pony gradings from home.

Donnergotsch at the Winters

April 2010

It was great to see Donnergotsch again, we hadn't seen him since he was sold two years ago, he was such a favourite at home, a three year old colt with the character of a Teddy Bear.

Jo kept such a cool head, coming into the indoor arena for the first time, Donnergotsch halted, caught a glimpse of the huge flags above him and took flight. Luckily it was a test to music, so Jo continued in the direction they were heading and made up the trot work, then did her canter work in reverse. The test finished perfectly with the music, and they received the respectable score of over 61%.

Well done to both of them, next time will be a piece of cake!

PASCAL has been put down

Feb 2010

Very sadly, on Saturday morning, we had Pascal peacefully put to sleep, he had layed down the night before and could not get up, despite our efforts, it was decided to let him go. He was the most wonderful stallion, a total gentleman, he loved life, loved his girls, and lived in the mare barn, where he like to chat to everyone as they went past.

He has become much respected for his progeny, he passed on his beautiful type, his character, soundness, tremendous movement, and probably most outstanding, he seemed to allways pass on an incredible quick hind leg.

He will be much missed, and we wish we had kept a Pascal son, but we have a wonderful legacy of broodmares, who are already producing champions. His wonderful son Spring Pascal is flying the flag, and we have high hopes for his future too.

Congratulations to Katie Barr who owns and rides him, who has had him for 7 years. Katie, thanks for the picture.

Woodlander Stud's progeny from CLAIRE are supreme!

Oct 09

Our wonderful Hanoverian mare Claire, by Caprimond has bred a real superstar via her daughter, the wonder mare DORNROESCHEN by Dimaggio.

Dornroeschen had one year at stud before she embarked on her World beating career undersaddle, her offspring - WOODLANDER FAROUCHE seems to be even better than her Mum! Supreme Champion in hand, she has just won the Hanoverian Performance test with marks that most stallions couldn't touch - all her marks were 9 or above, with an amazing 10 for canter, and Lynne quotes the German judges as saying that they could have given 10 for all her paces.

With Dornroeschen lined up as Michael Eilberg's Olympic horse, perhaps Maria will get lucky and have Farouche! Lets hope so.

The stud had a great Winter Champs, SPRING PASCAL with his young rider Samantha Thurman Baker did their usual immaculate test to win the Petplan Advanced Medium Championships by about 3%. Pascal looks more and more like a very interesting Grand Prix prospect.

Despite Jennifer being almost unable to walk with a back in spasm, DONNERGOTT placed in the Restricted Advanced Medium Championships. The judging was a bit bizarre, with two judges having her 4th and 5th and the third placing her 2nd last, 26 marks behind! Nothing new there then.

Two other Pascal horses PHOEBUS & PHOEBE, bred by Roz Palmer, (wife of Dennis who bred Spring Pascal) placed in their respective classes too.

So well done to the Dads, Donnersohn and Pascal, a big kiss for both of them.

Purdy, the lovely, little chestnut mare by Pacal out of Weichsel, who we sold as a yearling at the Equilibra auction is now owned by Katy Holder-Vale and has just successfully completed her performance test.

In a big class of top quality young mares she stood out for her fantastic powerfull paces. Her top marks came from the test rider who got a fantastic tune out of her, and she ended up highly placed with an excellent total mark. We will keep a look out for her first foal next year.

White Dove CUDDY contender

July 07

The beautiful Hanoverian broodmare White dove by White Classic out of Dainsbury Graf, who we sold two years ago to Morag Valally, remains unbeaten in riding horse broodmare classes, this Summer she has been out twice and won at both the Northern Horse show and the Scottish Horse Show, where she also went on to be champion Light horse and so qualified for the CUDDY supreme championship of the show, sadly she did not win, so we won't see her at Wembly this year.

This is the second Cuddy Championship contender we have had this year, as Longhousefarm Angel got in the shake up at the Bath and West earlier in the summer.

Wonderland represents Wales

May 07

Nicola Howells and Wonderland (World classic x St Pr St Schwedin) have been selected to represent Wales at elementary level in the Inter Regional Dressage championships at Keysoe in May. He has been placed 1st or 2nd in his last 5 tests with scores in the high 70's.

Nicola has worked wonders with him, when she bought him, everyone tried to put her off as he was sticking his tongue out due to a new tooth which would not break the skin, with much patience and good husbandry he has now stopped this and is the super star we always knew he should be.

We have had much earlier foals this year, and thankfully the weather has been glorious! Since she came to us her progeny have hit the race course with great success and I'm told she has a favourite for the next Cheltenham meeting!

This spring our lovely 7 year old grey gelding by World Classic went up to Scotland to be competed by Nicky Heale from Verity Jenner's Yard. Having done nothing since he was backed as a 3 year old this lovely horse never put a foot wrong. His first outing resulted in a win with over 80%, he then qualified for the novice regionals on the last weekend of qualification, he also qualified for the NE Scotland Championships, the Scottish Championships and the Area festival. So far he has won both the NE Championships and the Area festival at Novice level and is now preparing for the Scottish championships, but not with Nicky, as he has just been sold to the most lovely home where he has already got his new lady owner besotted with him.

Donnervogel and White Dove

Aug 06

Last year we sold the beautiful White Dove (by World Classic) in foal to Donnersohn, she went to the loveliest home where she is kept like the princess she is. This spring she had the most stunning grey colt, who has been shown in the North of England and has proved a big winner as both a sports horse and a riding horse.

He was First and reserve champion sport horse at the North Yorkshire County show, with his dam placed second and they both won their classes in the riding horse breeding at The Northern Horse Show. Then followed a journey down south for the British Dressage Breeding Championships, where he was second in his colt class and White Dove was fourth in a very strong broodmare class.

This colt is now for sale, and we were so impressed we have now put White Dove's big sister (17.1hh!) White Classic, in foal to Donnersohn for 2007.
